Discord

CSS uses Discord as our main community platform. We have a Moderation Document which outlines how we handle incidents in Discord.

Introductions

Before users are given access to the server they must introduce themselves. Generally we require they give a name and course as a minimum, but how strict you want to be with this is up to the committee of the day. Once a satisfactory introduction has been sent in the introductions channel, the user should be inducted via TeX.

To do this, you can:

  • Right click the username → Apps → TeX → Induct User
  • Right click the message → Apps → TeX → Induct Message Author
  • Manually use the `/induct` command, and provide the username of the user you want to induct

All of the above options do the same thing, they are just different methods of triggering the same process.

Additionally, members have the option to bypass introduction by using the `make-member` command, and providing their student ID. By doing this, the bot will automatically check their membership status and if successful, will give the user both the Member role and also the Guest role.
