Freshers Week

Freshers Week is arguably the most important week of the year, as it will be the main week people are looking for new friends and things to do so make sure you have a lot of things and publicise them well. Also make sure you have an availablity spreadsheet so you know when people are able to help out with events and things.

Start publicity early, ideally around the time that A level results are released and people have confirmed their places and start joining the discord server. Also don't forget to do posts on instagram as well as talking with the school to get them to release some publicity on our behalf to all the new freshers before they get here (in an email or something).

I would also recommend creating a calendar with all the events on it as well as some events from other soceities (afnom/ostem/algosoc etc) so people have an image they can look at and easily figure out whats going on at a quick glance. Also PLEASE put posters around in the cs building, as well as maybe going to a lecture of first years and maybe PGTs and ask them if you can give a quick speech in one of them. If Vincent/Matt is doing them I'm sure they'll let you. I would also recommend putting some posters up in the lecture rooms maybe before the lecture, never been. done before but just a random idea I've had.

Freshers week is usally a 2 week long period, so make sure you have enough events during that time. Ideally having stuff during the day in the first week and look at more evening things in the second week.
